NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen and Commissioner Matt Kisber of the Department of Economic and Community Development announced today that $9.3 million in federal stimulus funds will be available to small- and medium-sized cities and counties through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program. The competitive grants are available to assist local governments in conserving energy and reducing fossil fuel emissions.

“This Recovery Act program is already helping provide safe, quality child care to thousands of Tennessee children,” said Governor Phil Bredesen. “Our goal has been to reach as many children as possible and encourage families to utilize all the benefits available to them under this program. NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen and Agriculture Commissioner Ken Givens today announced Producer Diversification cost share awards totaling nearly $1 million. The funds will help 192 Tennessee farmers invest in new or expanding areas of agriculture.
The Producer Diversification cost share opportunity is part of the Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program established in 2005 by Governor Bredesen and funded by the Tennessee General Assembly to spur farm investment in Tennessee.

NASHVILLE--- The Tennessee Highway Patrol, along with numerous federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, examined more than 1,100 trucks during Operation United S.T.O.P. (Strategic Transportation Observation & Prevention) on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. With a focus on the safe operation and transportation of commodities by commercial vehicles, the intensive 24-hour campaign resulted in 59 drivers and 67trucks being placed out-of-service.
