Bredesen Announces Job Creation Plan for Marshall County

NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen today announced a plan to reduce unemployment in Marshall County by putting up to 175 people back to work using federal dollars available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Marshall County has had the state’s highest unemployment rate – 19.1 percent in February – for the past three months and includes 2,330 currently unemployed residents.
 
“This jobs package will put people back to work and provide some much needed assistance to these residents who are feeling the effects of this economic downturn,” said Bredesen. “One of the primary goals of the Recovery Act is to put people back to work, and I’m glad the state can bring this assistance to Marshall County residents during these tough times.”

NASHVILLE – Economic and Community Development Commissioner Matt Kisber today congratulated company officials from Bongards’ Creameries, a manufacturer of natural and process cheeses and whey proteins, on the purchase of a 114,000 square-foot production facility in Humboldt. The investment will create 89 new jobs over the next three years.

 SL Tennessee, LLC to Invest $35 Million and Create 300 New Jobs in Clinton

NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Matt Kisber today joined with executives of SL America to announce a $35 million expansion of SL Tennessee, LLC, a company subsidiary operating in Clinton, Tenn.. The expansion will create 300 new jobs and add an additional 100,000 square feet to the company’s existing facility by the end of 2010. SL Tennessee is an automotive parts supplier for General Motors, Hyundai, KMG and Volkswagen.
