ECD Partners Plan More than 60 Events to Celebrate Entrepreneurship
NASHVILLE — The state of Tennessee currently leads the nation in the number of events planned for Global Entrepreneurship Week Nov. 16-22, which celebrates the vital role entrepreneurs play in innovation, job creation and economic recovery. To date, Tennessee has confirmed more than 60 events, leading all other states in the nation by 19 activities. Tennessee also ranks in the top ten for partners, with more than 50 organizations across the state joining in to make 2009’s celebration a success.

Venture Capital Companies to Focus Investment on Small and Medium Tennessee Companies
NASHVILLE – Economic and Community Development Commissioner Matt Kisber and Revenue Commissioner Reagan Farr have scheduled Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Central time to announce the six venture capital fund finalists and two alternates for the TNInvestco program. The TNInvestco program was created by the Tennessee General Assembly in 2009 and the commissioners of ECD and Revenue were charged with allocating $120 million dollars in gross premiums tax credits to the successful applicants in order to leverage private investment in early stage and mid stage capital investment programs. The aim of the program is to attract capital to Tennessee companies and create jobs in the process. Additional information on the program is available at www.tninvestco.gov.
Event Made Possible Through ECD Grant
NASHVILLE — Centennial High School (CHS) will host an Automobile and Energy Fair this Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the school as part of the school’s participation in an energy education program sponsored by the Energy Policy Office of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
New Manufacturing Facility Creates 150 Jobs
NASHVILLE — Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner Matt Kisber along with BJS North America East, Inc., a Swedish furniture manufacturer specializing primarily in bedroom accessories, announced today the grand opening of a new manufacturing facility in Dandridge, Tenn. This move brings a $6-8 million investment to Dandridge, creating approximately 150 jobs.
