APSU Will Host Business Tax Seminar July 28

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Department of Revenue and Austin Peay State University will co-sponsor the annual 2009 Tennessee Business Tax Seminar on Tuesday, July 28 from 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Morgan University Center, located on the APSU campus in Clarksville.

Polk County Man Surrenders on Tax Fraud Charges

BENTON, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the indictment and surrender of Russell Lynn Towl on tax evasion charges. Towl, age 37, surrendered to Polk County Sheriff’s officers yesterday at the Polk County Sheriff’s Justice Center.

NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Department of Revenue’s Special Investigations Section conducted the investigation that led to today’s guilty plea by Norman R. Shue, age 66, former owner of Circa Home Interiors formerly located at 230 Franklin Road in Franklin.

Former Henderson Business Owner Charged with Sales Tax Evasion and Theft

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Tennessee Department of Revenue’s Special Investigations Section conducted the investigation that led to the arrest of Naser A. Amro, age 34. Amro is the former co-owner of N&S Market and Deli, Inc., located at 245 West Main & Church in Henderson. Amro was arrested by deputies of the Chester County Sheriff’s Office at the Memphis International Airport after he arrived on an international flight from Toronto, Canada and was detained by officials with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

NASHVILLE – The fourth annual Sales Tax Holiday is scheduled for Friday, August 7 and continuing through Sunday, August 9.The Department of Revenue reminds Tennessee shoppers that the Sales Tax Holiday provides three full days of tax breaks on clothing, school and art supplies, and computer purchases.

Cocke County Business Owner Arrested for Sales Tax Evasion

NEWPORT, Tenn. – Yesterday, the Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue, assisted by the Cocke County Sheriff’s Department, arrested Patsy Ann Quinton, age 55, owner of Pat’s Bar and Grill in Newport, Tenn., on sales tax evasion charges. Bond was set at $25,000.

Revenue to Conduct Diesel Fuel Compliance Checks in Rutherford County on July 9

 

NASHVILLE - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue will be conducting roadside diesel fuel compliance checks in Rutherford County during daylight hours on Thursday, July 9. Internal Revenue Service fuel compliance officers often participate in these checks and may be present at this location.

BOLIVAR, Tenn. - The Tennessee Department of Revenue’s Special Investigations Section conducted the investigation that led to the June 24 arrest of Samir O. Issa., age 36. Issa is the former co-owner of N&S Market and Deli, Inc., located at 1505 W. Market Street in Bolivar.
