Sevier County Business Owners Arrested on Tax Evasion Charges

GATLINBURG, Tenn. – The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the arrests of Kevin Matthew Flannery, age 62, president of M.K.M.K. Associates, Inc., dba Southland Car & Jeep Rentals in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Margaret Anne Flannery, age 60, president of X.M.K.M. Enterprises, Inc., dba Famous Fries in Gatlinburg, Tenn. The Flannerys were arrested at their home in Gatlinburg by agents of the Department of Revenue with assistance of the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department. Both were charged with tax evasion. Bond was set at $25,000 each.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Tennessee Department of Revenue’s Special Investigations Section conducted the investigation that led to yesterday’s guilty plea by Jon Kelly Parks, age 40, president of Personal Computer Doctor, Inc., located at 7825 Winchester Road in Memphis.

NASHVILLE - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the indictment and subsequent arrest of Ajaykumar C. Parikh, age 53. On July 16, 2009, Parikh, the former manager of Chandni, Inc., dba Portland Discount Tobacco, located in Portland, Tenn., was arrested by special agents on charges of Sales Tax Evasion and Theft in Sumner County.

 NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Department of Revenue’s Special Investigations Section conducted the investigation that led to today’s guilty plea by Norman R. Shue, age 66, former owner of Circa Home Interiors formerly located at 4281 Sidco Drive in Nashville.

Revenue to Conduct Diesel Fuel Compliance Checks in Giles County on July 23

PULASKI, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue will be conducting roadside diesel fuel compliance checks in Giles County during daylight hours on Thursday, July 23. Internal Revenue Service fuel compliance officers often participate in these checks and may be present at this location.

Polk County Man Surrenders on Tax Fraud Charges

BENTON, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the indictment and surrender of Russell Lynn Towl on tax evasion charges. Towl, age 37, surrendered to Polk County Sheriff’s officers yesterday at the Polk County Sheriff’s Justice Center.

Former Henderson Business Owner Charged with Sales Tax Evasion and Theft

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Tennessee Department of Revenue’s Special Investigations Section conducted the investigation that led to the arrest of Naser A. Amro, age 34. Amro is the former co-owner of N&S Market and Deli, Inc., located at 245 West Main & Church in Henderson. Amro was arrested by deputies of the Chester County Sheriff’s Office at the Memphis International Airport after he arrived on an international flight from Toronto, Canada and was detained by officials with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
