JACKSON --- Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency personnel will be participating in several deer rallies scheduled in March across West Tennessee. Certified TWRA scorers will be present to score deer antlers for the Tennessee Deer Registry.

TWRA to Host First Trapping Instructor Workshop

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will be conducting its first trapping education instructor workshop. The one-day workshop will be held Saturday, March 13 at the TWRA Region III Office in Crossville beginning at 1 p.m. (CST).
 
The workshop is being provided at no cost, but is directed toward experienced trappers who want to become a certified instructor in the field. There are a limited number of certified trapping instructors scattered across the state and the TWRA has certified just under 200 students in the past year.

Two of Three Teams Repeat as Champions At Fourth Annual State NASP Event

MURFREESBORO --- Van Buren County High School and Bledsoe County Middle School each successfully defended their state championship crowns in their respective divisions at the Fourth Annual Tennessee National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) State Championships held at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum.

Tennessee’s Wild Side Wins Another Emmy

NASHVILLE --- Tennessee’s Wild Side added another Emmy award to its growing list of accomplishments during the 24th Annual Mid-South Regional Awards which were held recently at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in downtown Nashville.
 
Tennessee’s Wild Side won an Emmy in the category of Magazine Series/Special Program. Tennessee’s Wild Side is the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s weekly 30-minute television program and is produced in conjunction with the Renaissance Center’s Multimedia Department, which is located in Dickson.

The half-hour, magazine format outdoors program airs on Public Broadcasting Service stations across Tennessee and Kentucky. The popular series now has a total of seven Emmy awards since its inception. 

TWRC Sets Second Elk Hunt, Elects New Officers at February Meeting

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission approved the second elk hunt in Tennessee which will be similar to last year’s, the first in the state since 1865.

NASP State Championships to Be Held in Murfreesboro

NASHVILLE --- The Fourth Annual Tennessee National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) State Championships will be held Thursday, Feb. 25 at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum.
 
The NASP State Championships has a new setting this year after being held at Tennessee Tech each of the past two years. The tournament has seen an increase of almost 500 students in two years with more than 800 students registered for this year’s event.
