Hannah Montana Movie Hits Theaters Nationwide This Weekend

COLUMBIA - Columbia, Tenn. makes an on-screen appearance this Friday when Disney's "Hannah Montana The Movie" hits theaters nationwide. The movie was filmed largely in and around Columbia, which is a Tennessee Main Street Community.

Memphis Selected as Eighth Top Movie City in Nation

MEMPHIS - The Tennessee Film, Entertainment and Music Commission and the Memphis and Shelby County Film and Television Commission share news of the selection of Memphis as number eight on Moviemaker Magazine’s 2009 list of “The 25 Best Places to Live in 2009 - (to Ride it Out as an Independent Moviemaker this Year).”

Film and Television Training Program Begins at Chattanooga State

CHATTANOOGA - Chattanooga State in cooperation with the Chattanooga Film Commission will launch the new Professional Film & Television Training Program in the coming spring semester and will offer a free preview seminar about the program on Wednesday, January 14, at 5:30 p.m. in Room 125 in the Instructional Materials Center (IMC) Building. The program is designed to train persons for specific technical and craft jobs in the film and television industry.

Nashvillian Finalist in Artistic Competition

NASHVILLE - Ryan Pickett, a filmmaker and post graduate degree student at Watkins College of Art and Design in Nashville, is one of only 15 finalists selected to compete in the Race to BE, a nationwide creative entrepreneurship competition.

Bredesen Signs Music Copyright Infringement Bill

NASHVILLE - Governor Phil Bredesen kicked off CMA Day in Nashville with a ceremonial bill signing on Wednesday. Bredesen was joined by state legislators and members of the country music industry in signing Senate Bill 3974, which requires Tennessee's public and private universities and colleges to take steps to ensure that computers on their campuses are not being used to disseminate or download copyrighted material through peer-to-peer file sharing programs.
