NASHVILLE - Governor Phil Bredesen today signed four pieces of legislation into law at a ceremonial bill signing ceremony at the Capitol. Among the bills signed was the Commercial Breeder Act (SB258/HB386), a bill related to funding for regional transportation authorities (SB1471/HB1263), a bill changing the law regarding selection of firefighter representatives to the TCRS board (SB473/HB1484), and a bill expanding charter schools in Tennessee (SB2133/HB2146).

NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen today announced the federal government has approved his request for disaster assistance for three west Tennessee counties due to severe storms, straight line winds, flooding, hail, and tornadoes that began June 12, 2009 and continued through the next week.
Four Middle Tennessee Counties Approved
NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen today announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved his request for federal farm assistance for four Middle Tennessee counties due to heavy rains and extensive flooding that occurred in May. Counties designated a natural disaster for agriculture include Bedford, Hickman, Moore and Perry.
