Bredesen Announces First Water and Wastewater Projects to Receive Recovery Act Funding
Released on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 - 9:38 am underNASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen and Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Jim Fyke announced today that 10 communities and three utility districts have been approved to receive low-interest loans for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements. The funding comes from a combination of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and the State Revolving Fund Loan Program. Forty percent of the funding is in the form of principal forgiveness, which does not have to be repaid.

NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen announced today that $17.9 million in Recovery Act funds will be provided to 12 rural transit agencies in Tennessee. The agencies provide transit services to all 95 counties in Tennessee.
“Many Tennesseans, particularly those with limited mobility, already rely on public transportation for their daily needs and many others would like to see expanded transit options,” said Bredesen. “The Recovery Act funds announced today will help rural transit providers in Tennessee improve service and replace aging fleets with safer, more reliable vehicles.”
